crschmidt 0ec90b17e8 Commit changes to Anchored popup: add anchor width/height to top left position if we're heading in that direction. I'm still not sure how perfect this is, but it stops the bubbles from being on top of my icons.

crschmidt b934aefff5 Make the zoombar, used as a background image, much taller. With the 'crop' set in the alphaImageLoader, this lets us use this image in both IE and FF as expected.

crschmidt db6049d3b4 * Refactor PanZooMBar so that we don't have three functions that do the exact same thing: These are simply passing information on to the slider, which then actually does the moving, so we'll create passToSlider. 
* Alter the dragging code so that you can't drag above or below the top/bottom of the bar.

crschmidt 04efcffb00 Crop the image to the size of the div. This is helpful in cases where the image is larger than the div -- such as when we're adjusting the height, in the zoombar, and have a significantly larger image that we want to crop to the size of the zoombar.

crschmidt 1f89f13fb5 Adding events to map while dragging in the zoombar, then removing them afterwards. This neccessitated adding a 'remove' to Events, to pop events off the end. No more problems with dragging off into the map accidentally.

crschmidt 5f4a8d2b0d Make a first attempt at making the zoombar div transparency work in IE. Since this image is a background image, I want to be able to set different sizes for the img and the div. I'm nt sure how well this attempt will work. However, the code still works in FF on OS X. Someone with IE test when they get a bit?

crschmidt 44454ba193 Implement radio button support in LayerSwitcher. Pass in {mode:'radio'} to constructor to switch away from checkbox mode, which is default. This allows us to complete the original part of #32, although we do not yet support the concept of 'base layers' described in that ticket, which has been split to #62.

crschmidt 4c684565ef MapViewerService now supports additional URL args: 
* controls=panzoom,mouse -- set up different controls. Also allows 'layerswitcher'
 * layers=openlayers,nasa -- set up different layers. Only these two are supported at the moment.
 * center, zoom, data are all the same as before.

These changes are relevant to Ticket #12.

crschmidt 201e478c63 Complete refactoring of PanZoomBar. This changes all event handling to be through the Events class, which wasn't the case in the past: this has the result of changing the 'this' object from being the slider, div, etc. to being the Control itself, which simplifies much of the code, and probably removes a few circular references.

crschmidt be6ecf5dca Store div offsets in event div object, caching them until a updateSize call. This provides a significant performance gain in places where the div contains hundreds or thousands of markers, because as the div element gets bigger, determining its size through Prototype.element.page() becomes slower by a factor of up to 4 (determined through profiling with venkman).

crschmidt c0ad6226de Adjust redraw. Before, we were appending the marker again -- but there's no reason to do that. The markers already exist, we're adjusting their position anyway. This should result in a 2/3rds speed win after the initial display, because appendChild was the largest length of time in the entire redraw process.

crschmidt ea4e785409 Huge performance win in caching this. Need to document updateSize, and probably set a 'resize' handler for the document or something like that to call it automatically. Note that GMaps v1 didn't have this concept: If you resized the map, you were stuck with it. GMapsv2 exposes a function to do this, so we're in line with that expectation. 
Profile difference: Before, 291 calls took 3 seconds. Now, 649 calls takes 3.49 milliseconds.
Total Time: 2859.72 (min/max/avg 0.12/35.62/9.83) vs.  Total Time: 3.49 (min/max/avg 0/1.53/0.01)

crschmidt d87992649f Add freemap of example of using different projection system (Mass state 
plane) with no changes to any code. This is relevant to #8: The only 
aspect of this missing is the ability to have a WMS layer automatically 
inherit a projection from its map, rather than being set explicitly.

crschmidt d0da958e57 1. Change the calling syntax for events on this control so that they go 
from this instead of this.map. This has practical as well as idealogical 
benefits, namely that we can now call other methods on the control from 
within a control. This is neccesary for...
2. When the shift key is lifted, stop the zoomBox. This is the way in 
which users can *not* zoom once they've started.

crschmidt 334fb4c2ed Add start of a KeyboardDefaults class. This works, but because Keyboard events apparently always happen on the document level, I haven't yet figured out how to have them only happen when you're 'focused' on the map, so these are currently off by default. To test them, map.addControl(new OpenLayers.Control.KeyboardDefaults()); in your HTML file.

crschmidt eaa7ddcfd9 Commit simplified Feature class. Features in the main OpenLayers parlance will not be the behemoth that they were in past versions, doing data parsing and everything on their own. Instead, a feature will be a minimal container for point-based data, to which other methods can be added: Feature.WFS might parse data out of XML, while Feature.Text might parse it out of CSV.

crschmidt 6c83a73519 Controls each create their own div, which is then individually added to the viewPortDiv directly, rather than to a Controls Div. This may fix some issues with event handling of lower layers, and may be related to #36. It also prevents the need for the markers hack a couple commits back.

crschmidt 519fb6da15 Add working version of text file layer. (For those of you playing along at home, this was about 45 minutes of work -- part of which was trying to figure out why the data file wouldn't work, only to find out I had expandtab on in vim -- so I wasn't typing tabs, i was typing spaces!) 
This has uncovered the fact that there is some logical error in our code somewhere: Visit markers.html then click the purple marker repeatedly.  Despite the fact that you start clicking in the sea, the marker moves north, as does your center point.

This text file layer does not yet support popups or anything else, just drawing the images at a lat/lon with an 'image' given in the textfile.

crschmidt 575474654b Create a single HTML object, and modify its style attributes to move it whenever generate is called -- this will hopefully allow us to add events to it. Note that the event registration in this code currently fails: wehn triggerEvent is called, this.listeners['click'] is called, which is something I have not yet been able to fully understand.

crschmidt 89f3b83a4e Remove IE-specific line from example.html, and instead use the galleryImg IE specific attribute in Util.createImage. This should fix Ticket #34, but I don't have an IE to test on. galleryImg was discovered from multiple sources via google searches.

crschmidt fb8bfed69e element.getDimensions doesn't check styles of parent elements, so when an element is hideen because of a parent, this breaks. fall back to style.width/height in cases where we have a 0,0 size.

crschmidt 1720fee550 The layer adds the marker to the div. Therefore, some of the code needs to move into the layer: the marker needs to know how to generate an HTML object that will represent it.

crschmidt 8a5842a11c Add Height/Width to control div via Map.js -- this is good for when elements inside the div are absolutely positioned, and therefore have no width. 
The LayerSwitcher now sets right, and *unsets* left. This is important because otherwise browsers get confused.
