Ignore files starting with ".". On MacOS, these may be resource forks, but in any case, ignoring dotfiles is relatively standard practice.

Fix for places where python2.3 is not installed in /usr/bin . Note that I'm also not specifically calling 2.3 anymore, since some things don't call it by that binary name.
